Neil Reynolds to become New Rochelle's first African American police commissioner

History is being made in one Westchester community with the appointment of a new police commissioner.

Neil Reynolds, a New Rochelle native and the current deputy commissioner, will become the city's first African American police commissioner.

He will replace Robert Gazzola, who is retiring.

Reynolds joined the department in 1994 as a patrol officer and will be sworn in within a few weeks.
