Residents in Kings Park are calling for stepped up security near the abandoned Kings Park Psychiatric Center after a video of trespassers was posted on YouTube.
Residents in the area tell News 12 that with Halloween approaching, more kids are coming in and trespassing by going inside to explore. Residents also say the trespassers are parking in the neighborhood and being disruptive.
The YouTube video shows young people exploring the hallways of the abandoned psych ward.
Officials say it is only illegal to be in the area at night and that it's always prohibited to go inside the buildings.
A spokesperson for the state Parks Department says they will have road closures and extra patrols Halloween weekend. There is currently $29 million allocated to demolish some of the buildings and fix up the park, but the department says that is years from completion.
