Owners of the Halo Nightclub in Oceanside say they face the possibility of being evicted in the middle of LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
The nightclub on Long Beach Road first opened its doors in January 2024, and owners say they face eviction due to falling behind on payments.
Co-owner Kyle Savage says they have faced roadblocks prior to opening.
He says they purchased the space in May 2023, but says their landlord would not let them into the property for eight months after purchasing the bar.
Savage says they were forced to pay rent for those eight months before they were allowed to open and turn a profit.
He says this set them back financially and is asking for the community’s help to keep the doors open to one of the only safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community on the island.
"We've tried to implore the landlord that this is not just a bar, this is not just a nightclub, this is a sanctuary,” said Savage. “This is a special, safe space and there are so few of those on Long Island."
News 12 reached out to the landlords Monday afternoon for a comment but have yet to hear back.
The nightclub is hosting its Pride Music Festival on Saturday, June 14.
The owners also started a fundraiser to keep the club open, which can be found here.
