Nassau County police say a man in his 30s was shot and killed outside a hotel in Bethpage last night.
Nassau County police said they responded to the Extended Stay America hotel at 905 South Oyster Bay Road in Bethpage around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Investigators said they found the victim in front of the hotel with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"We think there were people involved who were staying here," Det. Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick said. "It just kind of boiled out to the front of the building."
Around 5:15 a.m. today, Nassau County police towed a small black SUV from the front of the hotel parking lot that was hit with a bullet for evidence.
The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation, though police believe this was targeted and not a random act of violence.
"This is not gang or drug related at this time," Fitzpatrick said.
Police have not identified the victim's name, what led up to the shooting, or if they have any suspects in custody at this time.
Levise Young was staying at the hotel last night.
"When I saw them homicide pull up last night at around 10:30, 11, I knew something took place," she said.
Detectives request anyone with information on the fatal shooting to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911.
