The Nassau Police Department announced Wednesday that it has installed security cameras at the Massapequa Preserve in the wake of high-profile crimes. 

News 12 Long Island has reported that police are still looking for the killer of a 19-year-old Valley Stream teen who was found in the preserve in March. Last October, police investigated five incidents of a man exposing himself. 

Nassau legislators pushed for the cameras after getting calls from concerned constituents. The county says the cameras at the preserve cost $50,000. 

Acting Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says they are a preventative measure meant to collect data. The department says it plans on installing more cameras in parks throughout the county. 

Nassau police did not say how many cameras were installed in the preserve, but say they have been active for six weeks.
