Nassau officials want to make sure your Fourth of July celebrations stay safe.
The county's Arson Bomb Squad conducted a fireworks safety demonstration on Wednesday to show the potential dangers of illegal fireworks.
They say some of these dangers include burning your skin, hurting your eyes and starting fires.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says there's been a rise in complaints about illegal fireworks.
"They're illegal for a reason— because they're harmful. You may think that sprinklers are innocent and fun for the kids, but we see more injuries from fireworks having to do with sprinklers than anything else,” Curran says.
Nassau police say they will be arresting anyone using illegal fireworks, which could be up to a Class D felony.
