Findings from a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study have prompted major investments in support of Nassau County’s disabled community.
According to the CDC, nearly 10% of children are diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities.
The Disability Opportunities Fund will hold a pitch competition encouraging people to come up with ways for officials to make Nassau a better place for those with disabilities.
The fund will hand out $250,000 to organizations that come up with a successful pitch. The competition will be held this October at the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City.
