A Nassau County officer was honored Monday for saving a woman on the LIRR tracks near Hicksville in September.
Officer Chelsea Penn ran onto the tracks and removed the woman just 10 seconds before the train crossed the path.
Nassau County Legislature Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello was joined by Nassau County Police Benevolent Association President Tommy Shevlin to name Penn as the "Top Cop" for January - the first recognition of the year.
"If it wasn't for her action, her training and her dedication to risk it all to save another life, this woman would not be alive today," Shevlin said.
Penn has been serving the department for around three years.
