Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said Sunday that American flags at all county buildings will be lowered at half-staff in memory of late President Jimmy Carter.

Blakeman said in a statement that the flags will be lowered on Tuesday through Thursday.

Gov. Kathy Hochul directed flags to be flown at half-staff beginning last week through Jan. 28.

News 12 reported on Saturday about half of the flags in Nassau were not lowered.

Some residents told News 12 they were bothered by it.

"He wasn't who I voted for, but I still agree that you need to be civil and do the right thing for somebody right. He was still a president. They should lower the flags," said Stuart Gelb, of Roslyn.

Suffolk says their flags have been lowered since Dec. 30 and will remain so through Hochul's direction.
