Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice has unveiled a new criminal investigation unit designed to handle domestic and sexual abuse cases.
The Special Victims Bureau will handle all cases involving sex crimes, domestic violence and child and elder abuse in the county. Madeline Singas, formerly of the Queens DA's Office, will lead the agency.
Rice says the agency will allow the county to investigate these types of crimes more efficiently and effectively and offer more support to victims.
