Nassau County Executive Laura Curran announced that there has been 20% drop in seven days in the amount of hospitalizations due to COVID-19.

However, data has revealed a disproportionate impact across ethnic lines in the county – with African Americans making up 19% of COVID-19-related deaths.

In order to combat the issue, officials announced that two new testing sites will open in Freeport and Hempstead.

Anyone who meets the criteria can make an appointment by calling 516-396-7500.

Nassau officials say they are listening to medical experts, but are planning for an eventual restart of society. However, the key to reopening is to conduct contact tracing – which requires monitoring and tracing contact of infected people.
