Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman sat down with President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday.

Blakeman is touting his relationship with the president as part of his campaign for governor of New York.

"We talked about a lot of things important to New York. He loves New York. We talked about economic development, cutting utility costs and making for safer communities,” Blakeman said of the visit.

Gov. Kathy Hochul, who is running against the county executive in the 2026 gubernatorial election, responded saying “while Bruce Blakeman is at the White House begging for Trump's approval, he better demand that Trump refund New Yorkers the money they paid for his illegal tariffs.”

Despite a recent dip in her favorability, a May 2026 Siena poll shows Hochul with a 49% to 33% lead over Republican challenger Blakeman.
