A Lido Beach man, the son of a late organized crime member, was arrested Wednesday and charged with Medicaid fraud.
Police say Ricky Dibernardo, 44, collected Medicaid checks despite having enough money to drive a new H2 Hummer and purchase a home in Lido Beach last year. According to police, Medicaid money is offered to those who need it most and Dibernardo does not fall into that category.
The suspect's stepfather says Dibernardo is a single father of four, a diabetic and an amputee. He says his stepson believed accepting the Medicaid checks was legal. Dibernardo's late biological father was a member of the Gambino crime family. Dibernardo is charged with grand larceny and is being held on $100,000 bail.
