The Nassau County Board of Elections is preparing for the impact that Tuesday's storm could have on the special election between Democrat Tom Suozzi and Republican Mazi Pilip.

Nassau's Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner James Scheuerman says they are currently dealing with a shortage of poll workers due to people worried about the inclement weather.

"Poll workers are the lifeblood of our elections and if anyone is interested in becoming a poll worker, please call 516-571-VOTE," Scheuerman said.

He also said that the BOE has been working with Election Day polling sites to make sure they will be open, plowed and safe for voters.
