Plans are in place to rename the legislation that provides health care funding for 9/11 first responders.
The 2010 law is currently named after NYPD Detective James Zadroga, who died of a 9/11-related illness.
The new name would recognize FDNY firefighter Ray Pfeifer and NYPD Detective Luis Alvarez.
Both Pfeifer and Alvarez are from Long Island, died of 9/11 related cancers and fought for permanent funding of the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund.
