Multiple firefighters were injured during a routine competitive training drill Saturday in Merrick.
Police say the injuries were reported Saturday afternoon after an accident happened.
Right now, police and fire officials are not saying what the accident was. They say the people involved were taking part in drills at the time.
According to the New York State Drills Teams website, the North Merrick Fire Department hosted the event and involved teams from Albertson, Seaford and Bayville.
These are friendly competitions and common among firefighter teams across the state. They put the firefighters' skills to the test with events like racing and climbing ladders.
Police and fire officials told News 12 Long Island that the injuries appear to be minor.
