Firefighters battled a massive fire that spread through townhomes overnight in Syosset.
Officials received a call for the fire around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hidden Ridge Condominiums.
About 20 fire departments from Nassau and Suffolk responded to get the fire under control. Officers helped to evacuate residents.
Authorities say three residents were taken to the hospital with minor injuries from the fire.
The fire destroyed five units and severely damaged two others.
Hot spots popped up at the scene Thursday morning. The Syosset Fire Department returned to the area twice after News 12 reported smoke emerging from what was left of the homes.
Authorities say the cause of the fire does not appear suspicious.
The Red Cross was on the scene overnight. They helped a family with emergency funds for food, shelter and clothing.
