Funeral services were held Tuesday for the 4-year-old Bronx boy police say was beaten to death by his mother?s boyfriend.
Among those who attended the services were Brown?s sisters and grandmother. The boy?s father, currently in jail at Rikers Island on robbery charges, also came to say his goodbyes at the viewing. But family and friends say they?re outraged that the boy?s mother, Aleshia Smith, was not allowed to attend the service. She is being held at Rikers on manslaughter charges in connection with her son?s death.
Smith?s uncle says there was nothing his niece could do to save her boy, adding that she is a victim. Critics disagree, saying the blame falls on the Administration for Children?s Services, which was investigating the family.
