Dozens of parents backed a mother's fight to get her daughter back into school after she was kicked out.
Lori Phelan spoke at the Sachem School Board Meeting Wednesday, saying her daughter had a medical vaccine exemption. However, she says the district's doctor denied the exemption after eight years.
"To watch my child suffer in isolation for two and a half months was something no parent should have to witness or endure," Phelan says. "For any parent who has to make a choice between their child's education and their health is really a predicament that no parent should ever have to be in."
The district tells News 12 it does not comment on private student matters.
