Two-dozen people are under arrest Tuesday in Suffolk for allegedly trying to solicit sex from children over the Internet.
The arrests are part of a month-long child sex sting operation in the county. The suspects are charged with soliciting undercover detectives who were posing as kids on Internet chat rooms. Authorities say 13 of the suspects showed up to meet detectives at a house, thinking they would be meeting the kids for sex.
An active U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and a West Islip volunteer firefighter are among those charged in the sting.
