A Miller Place woman will have to spend her first Mother's Day separated from her newborn baby.
Julia Holmes says she gave birth to a happy and healthy baby boy, Alexander on Thursday at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson.
However, Holmes tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after the baby was born, despite not having any symptoms of the virus.
She says her newborn tested negative, but she has to be isolated from her son. She says staff at the hospital has been facilitating FaceTime sessions between mother and son.
“It's actually nice. But I wish I could see him in person," she says.
Julia hopes to bring Alexander home with her in a few weeks.
