The Mets gave fans something to cheer about in their home opener at Citi Field Friday.
The team defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-3 for their third straight win.
The celebration started before the Mets even took the field. Legendary Mets pitcher Tom Seaver was honored before the game with a 10-foot statue that was unveiled outside of Citi Field.
"Tom brought many things to all of us, but I think the biggest thing he brought us was faith," said Mets legend Mike Piazza "Faith in this team, in this organization and faith in all of you. The fans."
The Mets were without outfielders Brandon Nimmo and Mark Canha, who went on the DL after a coach tested positive for COVID-19.
Their overall record now stands at 6-2, which is first place in the National League East.
