Mercy Medical Center is firing back against allegations of poor medical care.
Dr. Anthony Colantonio, who works at the hospital, says the facility is infected by corruption and is administratively dysfunctional.
Mercy held a news conference Thursday in which doctors spoke on camera for the first time about claims of mismanagement. Doctors challenged Colantonio's integrity and denounced his allegations.
A national review board recently gave Mercy 22 requirements for improvement. The state is also investigating recent deaths at the hospital.
The state's Department of Health confirmed a woman died at the hospital after undergoing a double mastectomy. The woman had the operation after being wrongly diagnosed with breast cancer.
The hospital has said patient care is its top priority and is confident an investigation will determine the allegations are false.
