Two cadets at the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point are suing the school.

Marina Ronzoni and Morgan Mitchell say they were unfairly punished after being accused of lying to administrators about drinking at a soccer game.

The lawsuit claims both students were initially given penalties that included extra duty hours.

The students appealed the decision and appeared before a new honor board.

They say their penalty then changed to a set back graduation date by one year.

The academy tells News 12 it "does not comment on specific matters that are the subject of current litigation."
