Melville street renamed in honor of WWII veteran, longtime resident

A Melville street was renamed Thursday in honor of a decorated World War II veteran.
The corner of Earl Road and Earl Gate was renamed after Nicholas "Al" Tarantelli.
Tarantelli's family tells News 12 he signed up to join the U.S. Army in 1943. They were given an American flag in his honor.
Tarantelli's neighbors say he lived in the area for so long that they gave him the unofficial title of "Mayor of Earl Road."
