Over $80,000 was raised to restore and preserve a historical treasure on Long Island.
The eagle that sits atop the Stony Brook Village Post Office since 1941 is believed to be the only mechanical bald eagle perched above a post office in the United States.
It flaps its wings every hour on the hour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The 82-year-old bird of prey recently fell into disrepair, but after a large fundraising effort and mechanical upgrades, America’s national bird will be able to flap its wings for years to come.
