Westhampton Dunes residents may soon be able to rent out their homes more frequently.
As of now, homeowners are only allowed to rent in blocks of two weeks or more, and it can only be done five times per season.
News 12 has learned the mayor wants to consider opening up Westhampton Dunes to nightly or weekend renters, through sites like Airbnb and Homeaway.
The mayor says it is a controversial issue, with some residents worried it could turn the area into a party town.
The rental issue will go before the village board this Friday.
