A search has been suspended for the owner of a boat after it washed up with no one on board at Smith Point Beach, officials say.
The Coast Guard says it was searching for the owner a 25-foot Pleasure craft that washed up on the ocean side of Smith Point Beach. The search was suspended because of how long the operator was missing, but officials say they will be back out today for a recovery mission.
The boat was found approximately two miles west of Moriches Inlet, at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 30.
Police tell News 12 the owner has been identified, but they will not release a name at this time. Police are not sure if anyone was on the boat with the owner.
