A Massapequa Park man is accused of throwing bricks through the windshield of a garbage truck.
Police say officers responded to Atlantic Avenue around 8 a.m. on April 19.
Officers arriving at the scene say they were met by three Town of Oyster Bay sanitation workers who claimed an unknown male threw two bricks at the windshield of their truck, causing it to shatter. The workers say the man then proceeded to go to the rear of the truck and release a chemical spray toward the faces of the other workers.
The victims all refused medical attention at the scene.
Police say it was determined that Daniel Cooney, 59, was responsible and that he was placed under arrest without further incident.
Cooney is charged with criminal mischief, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Cooney was arraigned and released pending a mental evaluation. He is expected back in court April 26.
