Students took part in a walkout to demand the removal of the Manhasset school superintendent over allegations he violated the district's sexual harassment policy.
An independent investigation found that Dr. Vincent Butera violated the district's sexual harassment policy. The investigation was prompted after a teacher, who has since left the district, made a formal complaint to the school board detailing alleged unwanted attention from Butera.
"The thought that even one person perceived my actions and behavior differently brings me profound regret and sadness," says Butera.
The students were angry because there was no mention of any disciplinary action.
Student Kaitlin Clark helped organize the walkout. Clark says Butera is supposed to be a role model and should be setting the standard for how students are supposed to act.
Clark says the students are calling for his removal.
Parent Stacey Kelly says, "It sends the wrong message to the kids that you can violate the school's sexual harassment policy and no consequences."
Students and parents tell News 12 they plan on attending the next school board meeting, which is set for May 18.
