Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and the head of Forest City Ratner spoke about their vision for the new Nassau Coliseum today.

During a news conference, officials revealed that they plan to downsize the number of seats inside the venue to make events more intimate and theatrical.

They say they already have more than 200 events booked, including concerts, the circus and six Islanders games.

The Nassau Legislature still must approve the lease in order for the plans to move forward.

The privately financed $229 million renovation will also include surrounding restaurants, an outdoor skating rink and an amphitheater.

Ratner says construction will take between 15 and 18 months. He says he plans to only use union workers.
