Nassau police are searching for a man they say tried to rob a gas station in Valley Stream.

News 12 has been told the incident happened Sunday morning just after 2 a.m.

Detectives say a man walked into the BP station on Rockaway Avenue and pointed a gun at the employee at the register.

The victim then ran and locked himself in the bathroom behind the counter and called 911.

Police tell News 12 the suspect then ran out of the store empty handed.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
