A man hired to maintain computers at Sachem schools has been accused of stealing from the district.Authorities say 51-year-old Donald Meritz, of Contemporary Computer Solutions of Bohemia, stole computers and made a profit by selling them on eBay. At the time of the thefts, Sachem was upgrading its computers and storing many of the older models at Waverly Elementary School. That is where the Suffolk County district attorney?s office says Meritz helped himself to several computers and other expensive equipment. Investigators set up a sting operation and say they caught Meritz in the act. In all, he's accused of making a profit of $20,000 by selling 19 district computers and other electronic equipment.
