The man suspected of killing a Central Islip teen on Memorial Day was arrested and is being held without bail Wednesday.
Police say 19-year-old Lavelle Todd fatally shot Robert Adams, 19, at the Central Islip Recreation Center in front of hundreds of people at a gathering. Two other people were also wounded in the shooting.
?I feel good that he got caught,? said Lorraine Jermon, Adams? mother. ?I hope justice will be served ? it will be served.?
Todd was apprehended in North Carolina Monday by U.S. Marshals. He is being charged with second-degree murder.
Authorities say a code of silence in the neighborhood kept witnesses from coming forward.
?I hope he gets life for what he did. He did a terrible thing and that?s it,? Jermon said. Todd is due back in court June 27.
