Police say a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Westbury.

Detectives say 66-year-old Sham Lal, of Westbury, was attempting to cross Old Country Road near South Grand Street when he was struck by a vehicle that was driven by a 58-year-old man.

The driver remained at the scene and called 911, according to police.

Lal was pronounced dead at the hospital.
