Armed man kicks down door in Sayville apartment burglary

Investigators say Douglas Davis kicked in the front door of an apartment on Greeley Avenue before getting into a verbal dispute with the occupants.

A 24-year-old man accused of burglarizing a Sayville apartment building is facing multiple charges, according to police.

Investigators say Douglas Davis kicked in the front door of an apartment on Greeley Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. Friday.

After getting into a verbal dispute with the residents, he fled the scene and stole an unoccupied pickup truck.

Patrol officers found him on Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst. They say he was in possession of a loaded ghost gun with an extended magazine.

The charges against him include burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, grand larceny and possession of stolen property.
