Man dies days after being found in critical condition at scene of South Hempstead robbery

A South Hempstead man has died just days after police found him suffering from serious head injuries duing a robbery investigation last weekend.
Nassau County Police initially responded to the BP gas station at 470 Grand Ave., near the intersection of May Street, just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, for a report of a robbery.
Officers discovered the male victim, now identified as South Hempstead resident Justinn Thomas, 30.
Thomas was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
On Tuesday, Nassau County police said Thomas died because of the head injuries.
Officers have not said how Thomas was initially injured, if he was involved in the alleged robbery or whether he was an innocent bystander.
Nassau County police have not announced an arrest in either the robbery or Thomas' death as of this morning.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Nassau County Police Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911.
The investigation is ongoing.
