Police say a man has been arrested and charged with DWI following a fatal wrong-way crash in Brookhaven.
Police say Christopher O'Brien, 54, of Port Jefferson Station, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the Sunrise Highway just east of Horseblock Road when he crashed head-on into another car.
Officials identified the victim as Thomas D'Eletto, 57, of Aquebogue. D'Eletto was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say it is unclear if the fog played a role in the wrong-way crash.
O'Brien has been charged with driving while intoxicated and was transported to the hospital for treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening. He will be arraigned at a later date.
Suffolk police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555.
