A man has been arrested and charged in connection with burglaries at several Nassau businesses this month.
According to police, Joseph Borrello, 52, allegedly entered businesses by breaking the glass and taking various items and money.
Police say 10 businesses were broken into, including one business where it happened twice.
David's Express Barbershop was one of the businesses broken into last week.
"Glass was destroyed. Shattered on the floor," says owner Gabriel Khodzhayab. "It's a shock to me because I wouldn't expect for someone to do how many stores, five, 10. Even to do to one store it's surprising."
Police say no injuries were reported.
Clinton Grocery in Hempstead was also broken into on Oct. 16.
"They came in the middle of the night and broke the door, come inside and open the cashier and take the cash we have in there, about $200," says owner Carmen Hernandez.
Owners of both businesses say it was heartbreaking to see the damage and they were able to get it fixed quickly.
"The door was broken. That cost us $1,000," says Hernandez.
Police say the other businesses broken into were:
  • The Corner Store in Valley Stream
  • Kawa Sushi in Massapequa
  • Mario's Pizzeria in Massapequa
  • Pit Stop Gas Station in Massapequa
  • Munsey Park Bagel in Manhasset
  • Villa Deli in Levittown
  • That Pizza Place in Levittown
  • Beyond Bagels in Jericho
