Man accused of rape arraigned on grand jury indictment
Jawarren Booker, who is accused of breaking into a woman’s apartment and raping her, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of forcible rape and burglary.

Prosecutors say a man is accused of breaking into a woman’s Holbrook apartment - knowing she lived alone - and raping her.
The prosecutor alleges that Jawarren Booker grabbed the woman’s face and neck “in a chokehold.”
Booker is accused of throwing the woman - who is being described as small and frail - to the ground and warning her not to tell anyone about the attack.
The prosecutor said she alerted a neighbor and authorities came.
Booker was arrested several days later in the Bronx after a large manhunt.
Booker’s attorney declined comment. He is being held without bail.
The victim had bruises and lacerations, the prosecutor said.
An order of protection has been issued on her behalf.
