A man is under arrest after hitting a Riverhead ambulance with a metal pipe.

Riverhead police received a call about an elderly man needing medical help at a Jamesport home on Thursday.

On the way there, a Riverhead ambulance tried to make a left onto East Second Street, but a large dump truck trying to make a right was in the way.

News 12 has been told the driver tried to make the truck back up, but he refused to move, sparking an argument.

Police say the truck driver began inching toward the side of the ambulance, then ran toward it with a metal pipe and began hitting the back of it.

An officer was flagged down and 26-year-old Hamlet O. Ramirez was arrested.

Ramirez is facing multiple charges including obstructing governmental administration.
