Students at Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School in Brookville spent part of the school day putting together meal packages.
It's an annual multiday event that helps people all over Long Island.
Each food package contains several servings of a rice-based meal.
“I love doing this and helping people," says sixth-grader Kayden Hunt.
The Rev. Adam Schoepflin, the school’s director of campus ministry, said for the past 14 yearsm they’ve packed more than 3.6 million meals.
The food goes to food pantries and shelters.
“I get such a charge out of it every year, just the energy of our students coming through here and having a great time, packing with their friends, doing something to serve their neighbors. It’s one of the greatest things about LuHi and it’s one of the reasons I love working here," he said.
