Long Islanders mostly agree with ranking that puts NY as one of the top state to raise a family

Some Long Islanders say affordability is a different story and have to live paycheck to paycheck.

New York has been ranked as one of the best places in the United States to raise a family.

Long Islanders like Nicole Kent says she moved back to Long Island specifically because she'd like to start a family here.
"I grew up in Plainview and I had a really good experience growing up in Plainview," Kent says.
Wallethub ranks New York as the second-best state in the country for families.
Kent says there are a lot of community programs, recreational programs and great schools.
All states in the country were ranked on metrics like family fun, health and safety and affordability.
Some Long Islanders say affordability is a different story and have to live paycheck to paycheck.
Chery Manielle says living in New York can be pricey but still like living in the state.
She raised three children on Long Island and says she thinks New York is a good place to live and wouldn't dream of living anywhere else.
"High quality of education for relatively low tax dollars although I think people disagree with me," Maniello says.
