There's help for families with loved ones struggling with drug addiction.

The Thomas' Hope Foundation and Drug Free Long Island teamed up to host an overdose prevention training and awareness seminar in Massapequa Park.

Organizers say it's critical for all Long Islanders to be trained on how to administer Narcan which can reverse the effects of an overdose.

"You have to be able to save a life. The drugs on the streets today are dangerous," explained organizer Linda Ventura.

Attendees received free Narcan kits to take home with them.

The drug overdose prevention event was held to mark the end of National Recovery month.
