A Port Jefferson athlete is headed to this year's Olympic trials in race walking.
Ruby Ray recently qualified for both the World Championships and the Olympic try-outs in race walking. The 19-year-old has been completing in the sport for two years.
It's very overwhelming, but it has given me new insight to my world view and has given me persistence and strength and many characteristics, I didn't have before," says Ray. She leaves for the Olympic trials in Oregon on Tuesday.
