The Long Island Pride Day celebration is returning Sunday as an in-person event.

It will be the first time Nassau County will host the event at Eisenhower Park.

“Our message is everyone is respected and everyone is protected, and by hosting Pride here for the first time, I really think it sends that message strong and clear,” says Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.

David Kilmnick, of the LGBT Network, adds, “To be here at such a special location and work closely with Nassau County government on pride really says a lot to LGBTQ families…Pride is celebrated on June 13, but if you live out here Long Island, it will be celebrated 365 days a year too."

Earlier this week, organizers announced 4,000 people will be able to take part. They previously announced that only 500 people would be able to attend but have since been able to increase the capacity limit.

Participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or show a negative test to get in.

  Tickets must be purchased in advance.  

The celebration will have a large concert including a Queen cover band and a 90-person marching band from New York City.

Last year, Pride events had to be canceled because of the pandemic.
