Over 250 pizzerias across Long Island took part in Wednesday’s Long Island Pizza Strong event.

Restaurants donated $5 from every pizza pie they sold on April 17 to support the family of NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller, as well as other organizations that support officers and their families.

The pizzerias that News 12 visited were expecting a strong turnout from the community.

Some customers told News 12 they changed their lunch plans for the day, just so they could support the cause.
