Farmingville's Maria Michta-Coffey will take another step closer to her goal in just over two weeks when she competes in her second Olympic racewalking competition.
Michta-Coffey represented the U.S. Racewalking team in the 2012 London Olympic Games and finished 29th.
"I just wanted to be a part of it...I love that feeling of everybody coming together," said Michta-Coffey. "It's all Team USA together, it's like the Fourth of July extended for two weeks."
In the London games, Michta-Coffey finished her 20K racewalk with a personal best time of 1 hour, 32 minutes and 27 seconds. That's just over a seven-minute mile.
Since then she says she's gotten faster.
Michta-Coffey says her goal is a top 20 finish when she competes on Aug. 19.
