COVID-19
hospitalizations are increasing rapidly on Long Island as a spike in cases
pushed the region's seven-day positivity rate to the state's highest at
9.32%.
Nassau and
Suffolk reported 3,973 new cases on Sunday. There are a total of
24 confirmed omicron cases on Long Island.
The rise cases have created a tough decision for
families who must decide whether to gather for the holidays.
“These are situations each individual has to make for
themselves about what risks they’re willing to go to,” says Dr. Aaron Glatt, of
Mount Sinai South Nassau.
Health officials say to be safe one of the things families
can do ahead of gatherings is to make sure everyone is vaccinated.
