Rose Girone, of North Bellmore, celebrated her 113th birthday on Jan. 13 at Belair Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in North Bellmore.
Her family says the Holocaust survivor was born in Poland in 1912 and lived in Austria and Germany.
In 1939, her family says she escaped Nazi persecution by moving to Shanghai, China.
Girone moved to the United States in 1947, and her family says she opened Rose's Knitting Studio in 1953.
She told News 12's Thema Ponton that her secret to longevity is "eat lots of chocolate."
Her family served chocolate cake today at her birthday party.
